Road Rally XXII: Homer's Odyssey
For twenty-two years, Road Rally has been the Charles Lea Center's "signature" fundraising event. Often referred to as a scavenger hunt in a car, this year's Rally has a Greek mythology theme, "Homer's Odyssey." Just as the Greek poet Homer's hero Odysseus met with many trials and challenges in his 10-year odyssey to return to his homeland following the Trojan War, this year's rally participants may face storms at sea, terrible monsters, and the sirens' song as they follow clues from checkpoint to checkpoint. A reception and dinner at LeBaron Plaza ends the Rally.
Charles Lea parent and CLC Foundation trustee Lynne Poole chairs the Road Rally and Ashley Fly, a realtor with Prudential C. Dan Joyner & Young and long-time rally participant serves as "Rally Master" writing directions and clues for the rally. Also serving on the Road Rally Committee are Hank Barnet, Ernestine Canty, Marilyn Clarkson, Lynne Falatok, Laura Gramling, Peggy Grant, Karen Tyner, Susan MacDowell, Suzanne Leone, Martha McDaniel, Elaine Smith and Lee Ann Williams.
